A City contractor will be conducting an underground electric improvement starting the week of June 8 in a downtown Geneva alley, which runs from State (Route 38) to Hamilton streets in between Third and Fourth streets.
Meade Electric crews will be excavating to install new conduit, setting a transformer at the south end of 316 Hamilton St. and then pulling wire through the conduit. The project will require power service interruptions to the adjacent business customers, who were notified in advance of the construction. Outage notices will be distributed 48 hours in advance to the impacted electric customers for scheduled disruptions.
Several parking spaces on the south side of Hamilton east of the alley will be closed during construction operations.
The project also may warrant times when the alley will be closed to traffic. Businesses are encouraged to have deliveries made from State, Third, Fourth, or Hamilton streets and should have garbage/recycling haulers schedule their pickups prior to 7 a.m. or after 3 p.m.
The expected completion date for this project is early to mid-July, weather permitting. The improvement will upgrade electric services for Nobel House restaurant and 10 N. Third St.
The contractor also will have a company video of all the properties to record existing conditions. This will provide documentation in the case of a dispute for how the area looked before work started compared to after completion and can assist with resolving any discrepancies.
