The Geneva Public Works Department responded to three small outages July 26-28.
Seven customers on McKinley Avenue lost power at 9:41 a.m. July 26 when lightning hit a tap fuse. Public Works crews were able to fix the fuse and bring service back online by 11 a.m.
Around 1:14 p.m. July 27, an elbow was damaged on a transformer. Twelve customers on Brighton Court and Wood Avenue lost service until Public Works was able to refeed power from a different source at 2:30 p.m.
The final incident took place at 6:50 a.m. July 28 when tree branches landed on a transformer causing 16 customers to lose power on West and Highbury lanes. Public Works was able to clear the branches and refuse the transformer by 7:45 a.m.
As a reminder, residents should report outages after hours and on weekends to the Geneva Police Department non-emergency number at 630-232-4736. Police will then dispatch the on-call Public Works personnel. The City does not monitor social media channels and the online request system 24 hours a day.
