The Geneva Public Works Department responded to a power outage Nov. 24 on the west side of Geneva.

More than 360 customers lost service at 4:47 p.m. due to a faulted switch at one of Geneva's substations. The outage area impacted customers on Cheever Avenue, Meadows Road, Fargo Boulevard, and South Batavia Avenue (Route 31) to Fabyan Parkway. The Public Works Electric Division isolated the switch and energized the load from alternate sources.

Public Works restored 71% of the customers by 6:20 p.m., and service resumed for the remaining 104 customers by 7:30 p.m.

As a reminder, residents should report outages after hours, holidays, and weekends to the Geneva Police Department non-emergency number at 630-232-4736. Police will then dispatch the on-call Public Works personnel. The City does not monitor social media channels and the online request system 24 hours a day.
