Geneva owns and operates its own electric utility, and we take great pride in providing reliable electric service to our residents and businesses. However, like all utilities, we are susceptible to outages caused by bad weather, animals, equipment issues and more. This blog is designed to provide updates on what caused outages after service has been restored. Large-scale incidents will be posted in real-time on the City's Alert Center on the our website homepage. Customers can subscribe to receive these updates via Notify Me.

[ARCHIVED] Route 25 Water Main Construction - Nov. 10 Update

The original item was published from November 10, 2023 2:46 PM to January 11, 2024 12:05 AM

The City of Geneva is working on two water infrastructure projects along the Route 25 corridor (North Bennett Street). The primary project involves installing a new water main on the state highway from State (Route 38) to Jefferson streets. The secondary work consists of replacing an existing water main crossing at Route 25 and Division street. Construction began in October and is expected to be finished in December.

Nov. 10 Update

Route 25 continues to be closed from State (Route 38) to Jefferson streets after work was completed near Division Street.

Wall Street is currently inaccessible to Route 25 due to newly poured concrete, and local closures will continue into the week of Nov. 13. The City is discussing specific access issues with impacted property owners.

As a reminder, Water Street is a dead-end roadway and does not connect through to Route 25. The bike path is not an acceptable alternative for accessing Route 25 by motorized vehicles.
