The original item was published from March 21, 2024 2:07 PM to July 1, 2024 12:05 AM

Nicor Gas announced they will be installing a new natural gas main and line this spring in Geneva.

Construction will begin in April and primarily take place on Stevens Street from Edison to Illinois streets, and Illinois Street from Stevens to North streets. Nicor has provided a construction map to detail the work zone.

The roads will remain open to traffic during construction. Nicor has sent notifications to impacted customers on why the company is replacing the aging infrastructure. The overall project will involve:

  • Inspecting sewers;
  • Identifying new meter locations and utilities;
  • installing the natural gas main and gas line;
  • Connecting customers to the new system; and
  • Restoring landscaping and pavement.

The project is expected to be finished by the end of May, weather permitting. For those who have questions, reference Nicor's customer notification for project representatives.
