The original item was published from March 26, 2024 2:37 PM to June 1, 2024 12:05 AM

A faulty underground switch caused a power outage March 25 on the west side of Geneva.

The service disruption began at 9:14 p.m. impacting 771 customers living in an area west of Randall Road and south of Keslinger Road, including the Sterling Manor, On Brentwoods Pond, Randall Square and Emma's Landing subdivisions.

Geneva Public Works crews isolated the faulted switch and reenergized the area from alternate power sources in the City. Power was turned back on in stages with 89% of the customers being restored from 11:58 p.m. March 25 to 12:09 a.m. March 26. Service was brought back online for the remaining 83 customers from 12:26 a.m. to shortly after 4 a.m.

As a reminder, customers can report power outages after hours by calling the Geneva Police Department’s non-emergency number at 630-232-4736. The City's online request system and social media accounts are not monitored 24 hours a day.
