Nearly 300 Geneva west side customers lost power July 28 after an animal nest made contact with an electric line.
The service disruption began at 5:48 p.m. and impacted customers in an area including Anderson Boulevard and Richards Street to the north; James and Campbell streets along Seventh Street to South Street; as well as Linden Court and the 500 block of Western Avenue.
Geneva Public Works switched the energy load to an alternate source to restore service. About 77% of the customers were brought back online by 6:51 p.m. while an additional 65 had electricity again by 7:19 p.m. Public Works finished its response with one final customer at 7:57 p.m.
As a reminder, Geneva residents should report after-hour or weekend power outages to the Geneva Police Department. Police will then dispatch the appropriate Public Works staff to respond to the incident. Our online request tracker system and social media accounts are not monitored 24 hours a day.
