Thirty customers experienced a power outage Jan. 27 in downtown Geneva.

The incident occurred at 7:25 p.m. due to an underground cable fault. Customers who lost power were located on Third Street from Campbell to Franklin streets and Campbell Street from Second to Third streets.

The Geneva Public Works Department isolated the bad section of cable and re-energized transformers to restore service between 8:25 and 9:20 p.m.

As a reminder, Geneva residents should report after-hours or weekend power outages to the Geneva Police Department by calling 630-232-4736. Police will then dispatch the appropriate Public Works staff to respond to the incident. Our online request tracker system and social media accounts are not monitored 24 hours a day.
