Powering Up

Geneva owns and operates its own electric utility, and we take great pride in providing reliable electric service to our residents and businesses. However, like all utilities, we are susceptible to outages caused by bad weather, animals, equipment issues and more. This blog is designed to provide updates on what caused outages after service has been restored. Large-scale incidents will be posted in real-time on the City's Alert Center on our website homepage. Customers can subscribe to receive these updates via Notify Me.

America’s Coolest Pet Store — Right Here in Geneva! Have you heard the news that Pug & Hound Pet Apothecary has officially been named America’s Coolest Pet Store for 2025! This recognition is well-deserved and reflects their commitment to pet health, holistic wellness, and unmatched customer care.

What sets them apart?

  • The largest pet supplement selection in the Midwest
  • A brand-new custom built 11-door, 2,600 cubic-foot walk-in freezer supporting fresh-food sales
  • A team rooted in veterinary knowledge that truly cares and checks in with customers long after checkout

Originally opened six years ago as Bruce & Willy’s in Geneva, they rebranded to Pug & Hound Pet Apothecary in 2021, and in 2024, moved into their stunning new space at 415 W. State St., Suite 101, in Geneva.

This honor is especially meaningful to co-owners and husband and wife team Krysta Fox-Di Re and Jeff Di Re, who started their journey after caring for their beloved pug, Bruce Wayne. Bruce’s health challenges sparked a lifelong mission to help other pets thrive, naturally. As Krysta shared:

“I know in my heart Bruce’s legacy will live forever through the thousands of dogs helped by Pug & Hound because of what we all learned from Bruce.”

To their devoted team, loyal customers, and all the wagging tails who visit — this award belongs to you, too.

And let’s not forget, the City of Geneva is one of the most dog-friendly towns around! Many small businesses put out water bowls or offer treats daily. Whether you’re a local or visiting, it’s a paw-sitively perfect place to explore with your four-legged best friend.

Congratulations, Pug & Hound! Here’s to continuing to raise the bar in clean, natural, and thoughtfully curated pet care.
