Union Pacific said the contractor is working along the Route 31 overpass and the Fox River to prepare for the construction of the expanded train bridge, including new piers being installed in the river.

Union Pacific announced the Third Street commuter parking lots south of the tracks will remain closed to the public through at least August 2024 due to construction or nearby construction activity.

Union Pacific is anticipating making additional repairs to the Route 31 train bridge on Saturday, Nov. 11. Pending receiving Illinois Department of Transportation approval, the repairs would reduce traffic to one lane with flaggers near the underpass.
