[ARCHIVED] Winter Operations Update - Jan. 25; Remove Parked Cars From The Street

10 P.M. JAN. 25

With severe weather in the forecast, please see our Alert Center for further updates. The link is below.

**********9:45 A.M. JAN. 25***************

The good news is that Geneva received only an inch of snow as of this morning. Public Works crews worked throughout the evening to clear designated "Emergency Snow Routes" and are now scraping residential streets. This work should be completed this morning.

Of course with this winter, bad news always seems to be around the corner. Another band of snow is expected to reach our area late tonight bringing between 2 to 4 inches. We are asking residents to keep their parked cars off the streets to help with our plowing operations.

Late Jan. 26, an artic cold front will cause temperatures to plunge to frigid conditions. Bitterly cold weather is forecasted into Wednesday, Jan. 29.

*****************************JANUARY 24*******************************

A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for Kane County through 6 a.m. Saturday. Winds of 25 to 35 MPH with gusts up to 45 to 50 MPH hit our area. Snow is expected to develop late this afternoon and evening with 1 to 3 inches of accumulation possible.

Blowing and drifting snow will occur with the strong winds and will worsen with the addition of falling and accumulating snow tonight. Roads will become snow covered and hazardous.

Please take time to remove your parked cars from the street to help with our snow plowing operations.

We wish we had better news to start your weekend, but please drive safely tonight if you have to be out on the roads. Cars need to be removed from designated "Emergency Snow Routes" if the snowfall reaches 2 inches and residential streets if it is 3 inches.
