[ARCHIVED] Employees Charged Following Drug Investigation

The North Central Narcotics Task Force and Geneva Police Department arrested two employees and recovered more than 200 grams of cannabis and 70 cannabis vaping cartridges after executing a search warrant Dec. 19 at Buzz Smoke N Vape shop, 722 E. State St.
 
The search warrant was granted following an investigation conducted by the Narcotics Task Force into illegal cannabis sales at the business.

Daniel J. Velasquez, 28, and Kylie Housley, 20, both of the 700 block Orchard Avenue, Aurora were taken into custody without incident while the warrant was executed.
 
Velasquez was charged with: 

  • One count of manufacturing or delivery of a controlled substance, a Class 2 felony;
  • Six counts of manufacturing or delivery of cannabis between 30 to 500 grams, a Class 3 felony; and
  • One count of possession of cannabis over 100 grams, a Class 4 felony.

Housley was charged with two counts of manufacturing or delivery of cannabis between 30 and 500 grams, a Class 3 felony.
 
Velasquez and Housley were transported to Kane County Jail to await initial court appearances on Dec. 20. Both individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
 
The Narcotics Task Force is a multi-jurisdictional law enforcement team coordinated by the Illinois State Police with member agencies from Kane, McHenry and Cook counties.
