Geneva Public Works will be closing traffic lanes overnight May 1 into Thursday, May 2 on West State Street (Route 38) to repair a water leak.
Starting at 11:30 p.m. May 1, traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction from River Lane to Route 31. Motorists should expect delays and may want to consider alternate routes to reach their destination.
Performing the work overnight will limit the traffic disruption on State Street, and the repair is anticipated to be completed before the morning rush hour May 2.
Construction was originally scheduled for April 30, but the City postponed the work due to the Illinois Department of Transportation's ongoing Route 31 ADA improvement project occurring at the State Street intersection.
