[ARCHIVED] Overhead Electric Wire Replacement Program To Start This Spring

Overhead electric wires and select utility poles are scheduled to be replaced in several areas across Geneva this spring starting the week of March 23.

The City’s contractor, Mohawk Electric, is set to perform work in the following areas:

• Stevens Street – Peyton Street alley east to River Lane
• ComEd right-of-way – Route 25 to Woodward Avenue
• Fourth Street – James to South Eight streets; then Eighth north to Peyton (becomes Richard Street alley on north side of State Street)

Notices will be handed out to residents prior to work commencing. Once the contractor has completed the project, landscaping and other restoration work will take place in the impacted areas.

Residents with questions concerning the overhead cable replacement program can call Jennifer Hilkemann, Manager of Distribution Construction & Maintenance at the City’s Electric Division, at 630-232-1503, Ext. 3203.

The anticipated completion date of this project is mid-June.
