[ARCHIVED] Community Invited To Take Downtown Geneva Survey

Third Street Downtown Geneva

To gain insights into the effectiveness of downtown municipal services, the City is asking residents, visitors, business owners, and property owners to take a short survey about their downtown Geneva experiences.

The City in collaboration with the Regional Transportation Authority (RTA) has received a grant to study the performance of the downtown Special Service Area. The survey will identify areas where other financial mechanisms may be necessary to support the downtown development objectives identified in the City’s Downtown/Station Area Master Plan.

A Special Service Area (SSA) is a property-taxing mechanism used to fund a wide range of special or additional services and/or physical improvements in a defined geographic area. Geneva’s downtown SSA was established in 1979 and currently funds a portion of the cost for municipal services needed to provide free parking as well as including maintenance of public parking lots, common area landscaping, sidewalk snow removal, and trash collection services.

The survey will remain open through Friday, Feb. 14. The public’s feedback will help prioritize downtown improvements and highlight areas where additional focus is needed.

For more information on the survey, contact the City’s Economic Development Department at 630-232-7449.
