[ARCHIVED] ComEd To Trim Trees Near Electric Lines In February

Comed Tree Trimming

ComEd will be trimming trees near electric lines this winter predominantly east of the Fox River in Geneva.

Trimming operations are scheduled to occur from mid-February to early March (weather permitting) in the following areas:

  • Kirk Road north of Fabyan Parkway and mostly north of State Street (Route 38);
  • Geneva Business Park;
  • Kautz Road;
  • Route 38 east of Kirk Road;
  • Various sections of Fabyan Parkway; and
  • East of Heather Road in between Redwing Drive and Considine Road.

While the City of Geneva owns and operates its own electric utility, ComEd power lines feed City substations. Geneva interconnects with ComEd to allow the City to receive energy purchased from its regional service transmission provider, PJM.

ComEd states its vegetation management program helps ensure electrical reliability since tree branch contact with power lines is a leading cause of outages.

ComEd will notify affected residents about tree trimming taking place in their neighborhood. Visit the ComEd tree trimming web page for a project map and more information.
