[ARCHIVED] City Offers Police Station Virtual Tour; Referendum Open Houses

The City has been offering public tours of the Geneva Police Station this winter as part of our referendum community education campaign.

However, for those who cannot attend, the City has provided an 11-minute virtual tour to give you a behind-the-scenes look at the Geneva Police Station from the comfort of your couch. Police Eric Chief Passarelli and other police officers share their experiences and challenges about working in the building.

Even after watching the video, the City encourages the community to register for an in-person tour to see the building's conditions firsthand. Residents can take a tour, which will last about an hour, on weekdays, Wednesday evenings or select Saturdays up until the March 17 primary election.

Attend An Open House

Residents who have questions or want to learn more about the referendum are invited to attend two community open houses hosted by the City's Strategic Plan Advisory Committee.

Open houses will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday, Feb. 18, and from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 25, at the Geneva Public Library, 227 S. Seventh St. Residents will be able to speak with City staff at informational stations about the current Geneva Police Station and the proposed future facility. Representatives from the Geneva Police Department, along with subject matter experts in architecture, finance, and project management, will be available to answer questions.

Residents are encouraged to RSVP online so the City can plan the open house space accordingly. The RSVP form may also be used to submit questions to the City in advance of the open house sessions.

More Information

The City's website serves as referendum central. Residents can learn about the need for a new police station, view preliminary architectural renderings, use an estimated referendum tax impact calculator, review the facilities master plan, read FAQs, and access additional information.
