The City of Geneva is putting the call out for community volunteers to help plant a Red Oak tree at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 23 at Wheeler Park, 822 N. First St. (Route 31).

The City is planting the tree in conjunction with the Geneva Park District to celebrate Arbor Day. If you are able to lend a helping hand, call Geneva Public Works Streets Superintendent Nate Landers at 630-232-1501 or email him at nlanders@geneva.il.us.

Geneva has been recognized as a "Tree City USA" community for the 16th straight year by The Arbor Day Foundation. The City's growing its urban tree canopy earned the designation by meeting four core standards, including maintaining a tree board or department, having a community tree ordinance, spending at least $2 per capita on urban forestry and celebrating Arbor Day.

Starting April 28, the City will begin its spring planting program that will include 70 new parkway trees throughout the community. If you are interested in a new parkway tree, visit the City's website at the link below to learn more about our cost-sharing program.
