[ARCHIVED] RiverPark Summer Series Brings Family Fun to Geneva

Grab a lawn chair, blanket or even bring a picnic dinner to enjoy three free nights of entertainment along the Fox River during the RiverPark Summer Series.

The eighth annual Summer Series will be held at 6 p.m. Sundays, July 10, July 17 and July 24 at RiverPark, located at North River Lane and Peyton Street just north of State Street. The programs, which will take place at the park’s stone amphitheater, are sponsored by the City of Geneva’s Cultural Arts Commission.

The series begins July 10 with Northside Brass led by Geneva High School graduate and resident Ryan Hobbs. The ensemble offers a wide range of music including classical jazz, Dixieland and New Orleans-style brass band.

On July 17, The Need To Be Seen Radio Troupe takes the audience back when radio drama and comedy ruled the airwaves. Entertaining crowds in the Fox Valley for the past six years, the Troupe’s unique act makes people use their imagination to picture the action listening to various voices and sound effects.

Finally, patrons can enjoy a night of Big Band sound as the Geneva Jazz Ensemble concludes the Summer Series July 24. The group is headlined by Geneva resident Nancy Werve.

All performances are free of charge, but donations to the Cultural Arts Commission are always welcome. In case of inclement weather, performances will be moved inside to the Fellowship Hall of the United Methodist Church of Geneva, 211 Hamilton St.
