[ARCHIVED] 'Business Beat' Caters To The Sweet Tooth In January

Did you know that candy is made right here in Geneva's backyard? The next episode of "Business Beat" highlights plenty of candy delights at Silvestri Sweets.

The television show is now airing on Geneva Broadcast Network (Comcast Ch. 10 and AT&T U-Verse Ch. 99) every day at 5:15 and 10:15 a.m. and 5:15 and 10:15 p.m. throughout January. You can also find the episode On Demand on the City’s website at the link below.

Carousel Candies, which was purchased by the Silvestri family, has been operating for nine decades in Illinois. Silvestri Sweets, 2248 Gary Ave., produces all kinds of "old world" recipes involving chocolates, carmel pieces, covered pretzel rods, caramel apples, dipped strawberries and much more.

The episode takes you on a trip through the plant to show how this hand-crafted candy is created from scratch all the way to the packaging process. For more information, visit the company's website at www.carousel-candies.com.
