*******12:00 P.M. FEB. 5*******
The Winter Weather Advisory for Kane County expired at noon today. Geneva has received about 4 inches of snow from last night into this morning.
Our snow plow teams are expecting to have streets plowed to the curbs by 3:30 p.m. today. A crew will be in overnight to start hauling snow piles out of the downtown. The City's contractor will also be working this evening to clear downtown parking lots.
We ask residents for your help to dig out fire hydrants to make them accessible from the street and to clear sidewalks in front of your homes if possible. We appreciate your cooperation.

Public Works crews have made at least one pass down residential streets and cul-de-sacs to create driving lanes this morning. Work is now shifting to curb-to-curb plowing in those areas.
Main arterial roads (Emergency Snow Routes) are in decent shape given the weather conditions, and crews will plow them as needed throughout the day.
The City's contractor was in last night plowing downtown parking lots, but likely will have to return this evening given the timing of the snow.
The Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until noon today with moderate snow continuing throughout the morning of up to 1 to 3 inches with higher totals closer toward Lake Michigan.
The total snowfall expected for our area was adjusted to 3 to 6 inches. Strong winds could cause blowing snow, especially in open areas.
In good news, 400 tons of salt was delivered to Public Works yesterday and another similar size order is expected to arrive in the next week.
*******FEBRUARY 4*******
The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Kane County from 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 4 to noon Wednesday, Feb. 5.
Light snow could begin as early as mid to late afternoon today and increase in intensity after dark. Snow will persist into Wednesday. Areas of blowing snow will develop late Tuesday night and carry over into Wednesday.
Snow fall accumulations of 2 to 5 inches are expected to reach our area. Snowfall rates will reduce visibility and is expected to impact the Wednesday morning commute.
Winds are forecasted to gust between 20 to 25 mph leading to areas of blowing snow and even further reduced visibility.
Please remove your parked cars from the street tonight to help with our snow plow operations. People who leave their cars parked on residential streets on snow falls of 3 inches or greater (2 inches on main arterial roads) risk being ticketed or having their vehicles towed. Your cooperation is appreciated.
