The Geneva Chamber announced a ribbon cutting of the new Christmas tree at 9 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 14 on the Kane County Courthouse Lawn, 100 S. Third St., in downtown Geneva.
Along with Geneva Chamber staff, board, members, City of Geneva dignitaries and County of Kane staff, Santa Claus will make a special appearance from the North Pole.
The public is invited to come and help celebrate the new Christmas Tree.
Geneva Chamber member Wasco Nursery & Garden Center in St. Charles planted the new Christmas tree on Aug. 13 on the northside of the courthouse's front lawn.
Several bad weather situations last fall and this winter caused great damage to the 50-foot Christmas tree that had been there since the 1980s. For safety reasons, the tree had to be removed.
Thanks to generous donors, the Geneva Chamber was able to plant a new tree. Donations are still being accepted, and more information is available by calling the Chamber at 630-232-6060.
