The Western Avenue railroad crossing in Geneva will be closed Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 28-29 as Union Pacific makes repairs to the train tracks.
Construction crews will be pulling the railroad pads and replacing the rail throughout the crossing. The crossing will be shut down to both cars and pedestrians during the morning Sept. 28 and is anticipated to be reopened in the evening Sept. 29.
Motorists are encouraged to avoid the area and use either the Third Street crossing or the Randall Road overpass as alternate routes.
Any future project updates will be posted to the City’s website.
