Geneva Police joined an Elgin Police Department-sponsored initiative to increase traffic enforcement along Randall Road late this summer.
State, county and local law enforcement agencies worked together during the last week of August and the first week of September to prioritize Randall Road traffic safety from Algonquin to Geneva.
The high-visibility, joint enforcement effort materialized from citizen complaints and traffic data indicating an increase in dangerous driving behaviors, including speeding, cell phone usage and disobeying red lights.
The traffic safety campaign, conducted over four dates, resulted in close to 550 vehicle stops. Geneva Police officers made 47 of those stops.
The Geneva Police Department reminds motorists to avoid distracted driving and to keep their attention focused on the road.
