The City flag outside City Hall has been lowered to half-staff in memory of Lillian Skaar, 93, who was a longtime executive secretary for several Geneva mayors.
The Geneva resident moved to the City in the early 1950s where she was a homemaker raising her five children with her husband Loren. After her children were grown, she then learned to drive and worked for the City, "a job which she loved until her retirement in 1988," according to her obituary.
Ms. Skaar’s retirement was announced in a local newspaper with a banner headline that proclaimed her "The Nicest Person on the Planet!!!" her obituary stated.
The City of Geneva would like to express its condolences to the Skaar family and friends for their loss.
All flags across the state already have been lowered - and will continue to remain so - to remember the lives lost to COVID-19.
