Movoto Real Estate Blog named the City of Geneva the third safest community in Illinois based on a recent crime statistics study.
According to the study, Movoto said it was a close race between the top three communities, which were Homer Glen, Buffalo Grove and Geneva. Movoto used the FBI’s uniform crime report from 2012, specifically targeting the categories of murder, violent crimes, property crimes and total crime.
“Geneva had a serious lack of any violent crime, with no rapes, murders, robberies, and only two assaults per 100,000 people in 2012,” Movoto stated. “That made (Geneva) the least violent spot in the state.”
Factoring in all the categories, Geneva ranked third on the list. Movoto noted, “It should be easy for locals to get a good night’s sleep with that in mind.”
