[ARCHIVED] Geneva's Household Hazardous Waste Collection Program Features New Vendor

Household Hazardous Waste

Geneva residents looking to clean out their garage or basement can take advantage of the City’s free curbside household hazardous waste materials disposal program.

The City Council approved a new five-year intergovernmental agreement March 21 to have Kane County’s new contractor service Geneva starting this spring.

Residents can now schedule a collection online with Clean Harbors Environmental Services or call the company at 866-466-5060 (open 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday to Friday). A customer service representative will provide instructions on how to package the household materials for pickup.

The program is open for residential customers to dispose of automotive fluids, pesticides, household cleaning chemicals, fertilizers, latex paint, light bulbs, and more. Residents can schedule one collection – maximum 70-pound weight limit – per year. Kane County’s website offers a full list of accepted items.

Household batteries can be recycled during normal business hours (7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday to Friday) at the Geneva Public Works Department, 1800 South St.

More information regarding the household hazardous waste program is available on the City’s website.
