Fence installation in the southwest commuter permit parking lot (Lot A) in downtown Geneva will necessitate the closure of a number of parking spaces for more than a week.
The parking lot is located south of the Union Pacific West railway tracks west of Third Street. Work to install the new fence began April 7 and is expected to be completed by Friday, April 15, weather permitting. Sections of parking spaces on the south end of the parking lot will be blocked off as construction crews work in a rolling operation from west to east.
The City anticipates enough permit parking will remain available in Lot A for commuters throughout the next week, but commuters also can utilize any of the other downtown permit parking lots for the time being.
