[ARCHIVED] Route 25 Water Main Break Repair Nears Completion

City Road Construction

10:30 PM - Update

The Geneva Public Works Department expects to have the water main repair project completed within the hour. All lanes of Route 25 will be reopened.

Water service for the 26 customers will be turned back on but under a boil order (this only applies to the 26 customers who were without water service for a majority of the day May 10). The Public Works Department will notify the customers when the boil order has expired.

7:30 PM - Update

While the roadway was reopened this afternoon, the repair did not hold. Geneva Public Works crews returned around 4:30 p.m. May 10 to resume work on Route 25 north of State Street. Operations were ongoing at 7:30 p.m., according to Public Works.

The same lane closure, as outlined below, remains in place. The City is hoping to restore water service to impacted customers and reopen all lanes on Route 25 later this evening.

12:30 PM - Original Post

The Geneva Public Works Department is repairing a water main break May 10 that requires closing the southbound lane of Bennett Street (Route 25) from State Street (Route 38) to Wall Street on the City's east side.

Southbound traffic is being shifted into the turn lane, but motorists should expect delays and may want to seek alternate routes. Public Works is hoping to complete the repair project in advance of the evening rush hour May 10.

Water has had to be temporarily shut off for 26 residential and business customers along Route 25 spanning from State to Dodson streets.
