The City’s Public Works Department Water Division will be repairing a sanitary sewer system on Monday, June 6 near Niche Restaurant, 14 S. Third St., in downtown Geneva.
The project will require closing the northbound Third Street traffic lane from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. June 6 from James to State streets. The southbound lane will not be impacted during construction. After the repair is made, the roadway will be reopened to northbound traffic during the next phases of the project.
Crews will be prepping and pouring new concrete in a portion of the left-hand turn lane Tuesday and Wednesday, June 7-8. The new surface patch will need about 24 hours to cure before all road barriers are removed Thursday, June 9. Northbound Third Street will remain open June 7-9, including a portion of the left-hand turn lane, but motorists will need to use caution when traveling through the work zone.
The construction schedule is weather permitting. Schedule changes will be announced on the City’s website. For more information, call the Geneva Public Works Department Water Division at 630-232-1551.
