[ARCHIVED] ComEd Improvements To Occur Near City's Western Avenue Substation

Work In Progress Under Construction

Commonwealth Edison has scheduled several improvement projects that will occur behind the City's Western Avenue electric substation.

Before work begins Monday, Oct. 31, ComEd says construction materials will be delivered and site prep work will take place the week of Oct. 24.

The scope of work consists of replacing an electric pole, capacitor bank and platform cabinet. Construction is anticipated to be finished by Friday, Nov. 4, weather permitting.

While the City of Geneva owns and operates its own electric utility, ComEd runs power lines through the community to our substations as well as neighboring municipalities. The company states the projects will improve reliability of its 34k electric line in Geneva.

Residents in the area will see an increase in truck traffic and noise through early November.

Residents who have questions or concerns should call ComEd’s customer service at 800-334-7661.
