[ARCHIVED] Steeple Walk To Ring In The Sounds Of The Season

The Steeple Walk returns Sunday, Dec. 7 to usher in the holidays, greeting patrons with a variety of seasonal music concerts at four Geneva churches.

The holiday tradition will take place from 2 to 4:30 p.m. Dec. 7. Two audience groups will attend 20-minute concerts played simultaneously at the United Methodist Church of Geneva, 211 Hamilton St.; and Geneva Lutheran Church, 301 S. Third St. Following the performances, the groups will switch venues to enjoy the other concert.

Patrons will then walk to the final performances – and similar rotation format – at both the Unitarian Universalist Society of Geneva, 102 S. Second St.; and First Church of Christ, Scientist, 111 S. Second St.

A Steeple Walk guide escorts the groups to the next church, all within easy walking distance, and shares information about the architecture of each site. Artists performing at each church include:

• United Methodist Church: The renowned youth choral organization, Anima Youth Chorus of Glen Ellyn, has sung locally, nationally and internationally.

• Geneva Lutheran Church: The Orion Ensemble has been recognized for 20 years as one Chicago’s finest chamber music groups. These five talented musicians have performed throughout North America, Europe and Asia as an ensemble, individually, orchestral and in other chamber music roles.

• Unitarian Universalist Society: Vox Gloria is a distinguished a cappella women’s choir from the Geneva United Methodist Church. Led by Jan Gunger-Kroc, they have presented a concert for their church’s annual Christmas Season Women’s Service.

• First Church of Christ, Scientist: Guitarist Quentin Dover will accompany pianist Rosemary Schroeder.

Steeple Walk tickets cost $12 and are available for purchase on the City’s website at the link below. Tickets also are on sale at the Geneva Chamber of Commerce, 8 S. Third St.; Circa, 123 S. Third St.; or any of the participating churches. Please note children age 6 and under will not be admitted.

The Steeple Walk is presented by the City’s Cultural Arts Commission and is sponsored by Circa and Fox Valley E-Values. The event caps off Geneva’s popular holiday weekend with the Geneva Chamber of Commerce holding its annual Christmas Walk & House Tour, Friday and Saturday, Dec. 5 and 6.
