[ARCHIVED] Geneva Police Earn Traffic Safety Challenge Award

The Geneva Police Department received recognition from the Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police by placing second in the 2022-23 Illinois Traffic Safety Challenge for municipalities with 36-50 sworn officers.

Geneva Police also was selected as the Rookie of the Year for 2022-23 for participating in its inaugural Illinois Traffic Safety Challenge.

The challenge is a competition between law enforcement agencies of similar size. The program is coordinated by the Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police and supported by a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration grant, which is administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation.

The challenge is designed to be a template for law enforcement agencies to identify traffic issues, plan strategies, reduce social harm, and improve the quality of life in their communities.  The ultimate goal is to have a significant impact on the reduction of crashes, deaths and associated injuries across the state.

Geneva Police Sgt. George Carbray and Officer Erica Bolger were integral in regards to compiling information and presenting it to the Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police in a highly professional manner.

In a letter to Geneva Police Chief Eric Passarelli, Director of the Illinois Traffic Safety Challenge Scott Kristiansen stated, “Your efforts serve as an example to other agencies as we continue our work to make Illinois’ roads safer places to travel.”
