Geneva Police To Launch Drone For Memorial Day Parade

Police & Fire News Posted on May 22, 2024

The Geneva Police Department’s new drone will take its inaugural flight during the American Legion Fox River – Geneva Post 75 Memorial Day Parade.

The Skydio X10 drone will be launched before the parade steps off at 10 a.m. Monday, May 27 in downtown Geneva.

Two Geneva Police officers received pilot certifications from the Federal Aviation Administration following training at the College of DuPage – Homeland Security Training Center.

The Drones for First Responders Act authorizes the use of law enforcement drones for real-time monitoring during parades and special events. The addition of drone surveillance helps strengthen the Geneva Police Department’s security measures already in place for large-scale community events.

Geneva Police previously announced street closures and detour routes associated with the Memorial Day Parade, which can be found on the City’s website.
