Geneva landed on Thrillist’s latest rankings for the 12 best staycation hot spots in the Chicago area.

A combination of Geneva/St. Charles was No. 10 on the list with a recommendation to stay at the Herrington Inn & Spa or Hotel Baker.

“Sure it’s a little bit of a trek (from Chicago), but these two neighboring towns and historic hotels have a lot to offer. Just ask the likes of famous past residents Louis Armstrong, Gerald Ford or JFK.”

Other Geneva mentions include grabbing a sub from Josef’s Elegante Meats & Deli, stopping for a drink at Penrose Brewing, dining at Nosh, and taking a stroll along the Fox River Trail or the Fabyan Japanese Tea Garden.

Thrillist is a website that ranks the best when it comes to travel, food and drink. Editors said the proper staycation carries the luxury of sleeping in a cushy bed without the hassle of traveling. The rankings were based off 12 hotels/inns around Chicago with an ideal itinerary for food and nightlife.
