[ARCHIVED] Passarelli Sworn In As New Geneva Police Chief

Police Chief Eric Passarelli

Eric Passarelli was officially sworn in as Geneva’s new Police Chief during a May 9 City Council ceremony.

The 22-year veteran of the Geneva Police Department replaces former Chief Steve Mexin, who retired May 6. Several other officers were officially promoted during a pinning ceremony, including Commander Brian Maduzia, Sgt. Matthew Dean and Sgt. Bradley Jerdee.

As Commander of Police Services since 2008, Passarelli established the Police Department prescription drug disposal program and initiated the implementation of the department’s electronic crash reporting technology.

His other duties involved coordinating police services for special events, oversight responsibilities for the police records division, parking enforcement, background investigations of new City employees, liquor license renewals, fleet maintenance, speed trailer requests, traffic speed studies and serving as a secondary public information officer.
