[ARCHIVED] Geneva Postpones Fire Hydrant Flushing For East Side

The City of Geneva will be postponing fire hydrant flushing east of the Fox River until next spring due to cold weather forecasted for next week.

City crews completed flushing hydrants on the west side earlier this month but had to temporarily suspend the project since the Kirk Road water tower was emptied to be repainted. The water tower painting is expected to be completed in the coming days.

The Public Works Department’s Water Division will resume hydrant flushing next year when temperatures become milder. All Geneva residents can now wash their clothes without any time restrictions.

The City flushes its hydrants to improve the overall quality of the water by cleaning the water mains of rust and corrosion and to ensure that all fire hydrants are working properly. For more information, call the City’s Water Division at 630-232-1551.
