[ARCHIVED] City to Conduct Hydrant Flow Testing Aug. 24 - 26

The Geneva Fire Department, in cooperation with the Geneva Water Department, will be conducting water flow tests in Geneva on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday August 24th, 25th and 26th from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Tests will be performed on hydrants on the east side of Geneva, from the Fox River to Kautz Road.

These tests not only provide valuable information on water supplies available for firefighting, but are also used to determine where upgrades to the water supply system may be needed.

Residents might experience rust in the water during or immediately after the testing. The water is safe; however, you should refrain from doing laundry until the water is clear. In the event that rusty water discolors clothes while being laundered, please be sure to keep the clothing wet and contact the Geneva Public Works Department at (630) 232-1501 to request a rust-removing solution packet.

We appreciate your patience and apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. If you have any questions, please contact Fire Marshal Phil Affrunti or Chief Mike Antenore at 630-232-2530.
