Make This Summer A Safe One When Out On The Road

Posted on July 10, 2025 at 11:07 AM by Kevin Stahr

Summer has arrived. It is nice to see so many residents and visitors out and about enjoying the many amenities and special events the City of Geneva has to offer.

As we see an increase in both pedestrian and vehicle traffic throughout Geneva, this is a good time to review some driving safety tips.

  • Do not use your phone unless it is hands free. Distracted driving is a factor in many traffic crashes;
  • Watch your speed;
  • Wear your seatbelt;
  • Do not drive under the influence of alcohol or drugs. There are many transportation alternatives available;
  • Watch for motorcycles; and
  • Stop for pedestrians who are in the crosswalk. With many special events in Geneva, traffic congestion can be heavy in some areas where pedestrians are present.

Following these basic safety tips can go a long way toward assuring everyone has a safe and enjoyable summer.
